Overview:
Founded in 1995, Technological Arts specializes in the design and manufacture of modular evaluation/OEM products based on Freescale's HC11, HC12, and HCS(X)12 product families. Enjoying a worldwide reputation among educational institutions, corporations, and hobbyists alike for its innovative and affordable product offerings in the microcontroller arena, Technological Arts offers the broadest range of product configurations featuring Freescale 8- and 16-bit microcontrollers.
Business Philosophy:
We are a small group of technical professionals, of various skill levels and from various backgounds, designing and manufacturing a range of unique low-cost, high-value products for a small niche market-- mainly within the Freescale microcontroller user community. The products we make appeal to a specialized market-- not the general technology consumer market-- so there are some differences in the way our business operates. Since we don't make computer peripherals, add-in cards, etc. that have a potential market of millions, we don't maintain a large sales staff, tech support staff, or marketing department. We also don't create "lowest-common-denominator" technical documentation, with "hold your hand" recipe guides for using our products. A certain level of technical expertise on the part of the customer is assumed and required.
Marketing Strategy:
To keep product prices to a minimum, we market our products directly to the end-user, so that customers don't end up paying big markups to some "middle man". As another cost-reduction strategy, we use the internet as our primary contact and interaction method with our customers. This enables us to reach the global community of technical people involved in using microcontrollers, without incurring (and passing along) the added costs of personnel, catalogs, and expensive print advertising campaigns.
